Facing Summer - Melt proof makeup!

Hey everyone! It's Heather:) I'm going to give you a sneak peek of our Summer 2012 beauty article. You will definitely want to read the whole article when it comes out on June 15th! Most of us LOVE the summer time! How can you not?! All the sunshine, beach getaways, playing (yes playing!) outside, and just plain fun!! One of the biggest problems of the awesome summer is the summer heat causes our makeup to melt right off our faces. It's been a constant battle for me for years! So, when I approached our Beauty Contributor, Kim Alicea, about this problem she was on board with helping women everywhere find great solutions no matter what their budgets are. Below is a sneak peek! Enjoy and be sure to check out the full article on June 15th in our summer issue at www.itsaboutdetails.com!

Now let’s talk makeup! Although you may feel you don’t want to wear a lot of makeup through the summer months, it is necessary to wear a few extras if you want your makeup to survive the day.  Anyone wanting a flawless face that will last all day or night (Brides in particular), these tips are for you!

Foundation – Choosing a foundation based on your skin type is the key.  Long wearing foundations are very popular these days but don’t get caught up in the advertising. Everyone’s skin is different and it’s important to find what’s right for you. Dry skin needs hydration which typically comes with an oil based foundation, while oily skin needs a mattifying formula typically found in oil free formulas that incorporate powders.

Foundation:  1. CHANEL Perfection Lumiere $57
                       2. Make Up Forever HD Invisible Cover $40
                       3. L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Makeup $14

Avoid cream blushes and shadows, they will separate and require maintenance.

Use an eye shadow base (primer).

First Look

Many photographers are encouraging brides to have their formals pictures taken prior to the ceremony. While this may free up time during cocktail hour, some brides are feelings as though they have to see each other prior to exchanging vows, despite wanting to be traditional.
It's possible to stay traditional and have plenty of time to enjoy yourself during cocktails. Try to allot a little extra time between getting ready and the ceremony. This little gap can be used to take pictures of yourself and groom not seeing each other such as bridals, family, and bridesmaids. Just that alone will save a lot of time for later.

Once the ceremony is over, there mainly only the entire bridal party and family pictures to be taken. After these few shots are taken, encourage your guests to enjoy cocktails as you stay behind with your groom. This allows for more intimate moments and also allows your photographer to move more quickly.
It can be rather distracting for the bride and groom to have numerous cameras flash, therefore I find it best to photograph them when guests and family have trickled away, allowing for photos that are more intimate. This also enables the photographer to move more quickly, which as a result lets the couple plenty of time to enjoy cocktails.

Recap of the Society of Wedding Planners "Whose Table Is It Anyway?" table top design competition!

We decided to enter the "Whose Table Is It Anyway?" competition that was held on September 21st, 2011 at the Phoenixville Foundry. Proceeds benefited the Gift of Life Family House.

We LOVE designing anything for weddings (that's why we exist!)! So it just made sense that we would enter this competition. There were multiple categories. We entered the Wedding decor budget of $10,000 or more. We chose to do a wedding design inspired by Steampunk. It was so much fun and very interesting putting together all the Steampunk elements.

There was great food, talented professionals, flower competition, and much more! To read the article and to see a lot more pictures, taken by Lindsay Docherty, make sure you read issue 4 (it will be released December 15th)!
