So Many Details

As some of you may know, I have just started my own business as a "Day of" Wedding Coordinator. Weddings are something I love being a part of, even when they are not mine! I was married 6 1/2 years ago and I don't think a week goes by where something doesn't remind me of that day back on September 23, 2005! I relive it again and again in my head...or I watch the video!
I wanted to be able to help couples and families make sure the most important day of their lives go exactly according to plan...their plan. I am offering services for the day of the wedding. The bride and groom are still in charge of planning the wedding, I am just executing what actually happens on the wedding day.
Love The Way You Wed, was just created in the past couple months when a bride and groom approached me for some help. They were planning a wedding in Philadelphia....and they are living in Tallahassee, FL. In the past couple months I began helping them with the details of their wedding and in turn decided to open the doors to other couples.
This particular wedding is to take place this Saturday, on St. Patty's Day. And yes, it will be Irish themed! Some of the details included working with the event manager at the reception hall, working with the head of catering, the photographer, the DJ and the String Band. The nitty gritty details include maneuvering over 100 guests from center city to south Philly and then back to center city. How? Shuttle buses will be in use!
Tonight I met with the bride to go over the final details and for her to officially hand "everything" over to me. The wedding is now in my hands!!!
Stay tuned to see how it turns out....

Save the Date Postage

Writing a blog can sometimes be a difficult task. It is hard to know what to write about, a personal experience, a local story or a planning tip. I would like to offer all of these when speaking of weddings. I recently started my own Day of the Event Wedding Coordinator business in the Philadelphia area. With this, I am here to help the couples on their special day, execute all the plans that have been made in the months prior. Whether you need vases filled with water or the vendors on time and in order...I am here for you. With that being said, and I know you (as the readers) are not all local residents, I would like to use this page to occasionally offer wedding tips that I come across while assisting couples.

Just today, I was in a conversation about postage stamps on your Save the Date's...is this important to you? The bride from today is getting married in December, and when she went to purchase her stamps (post card stamps) the only style the post office had were Hawaiian shirts. She felt this to be ironic, a winter wedding with summer theme stamp. Ironically, another bride who was married last summer also sent out Save the Date post cards; her stamps...Polar Bears! Is this something important to you? Do you think your guests will notice the postage?

Today, post card stamps are $0.32 and the only style offered by the USPS are those Hawaiian shirts. The other option you have is to custom make your stamps online. Web sites like zazzle.com let you upload your own design or picture. They offer all stamp sizes (small, medium and large) and all rates, including the post card rate! The total price is a little higher because you are paying for the customization. But for one sheet of 20 post card stamps, you will pay $16.95 (buy three sheets and the price comes down to $16.45 each sheet). This, unfortunately does not include shipping, there was a $4.15 charge to NJ. All in all, I don't think this is too bad...to order 60 post card stamps (3 sheets) including shipping; I would be paying $53.54.

Fortunately, the United States Post Office does offer a nice wedding selection for your invitations. I would recommend using their stamps for them as you will already be paying for extra postage due to the weight of the "packets" you are sending out.

Oh St. Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day! But where did this day come from? There are quite a few stories in ancient history the claim to be the fame of St. Valentine. The most romantic one I enjoyed, was of Valentine, the Roman priest. He was marrying Christian couples during the time of emperor Claudius II. At first Claudius II liked Valentine, however after Valentine overstepped his bounds when he tried to convert the emperor; Claudius sentenced him to an ugly death. The date February 14th is said to be the death anniversary of Valentine. While he was in jail, it is said that he fell in love with the daughter of the jailer...and when he wrote to her, he signed the note "from your Valentine".
Today, the term Valentine holds more romance than any other name. Many people were asking that simple question today, "Will You Be My Valentine?".
Many retailers have made millions off of this 'holiday'. People love to spend on their significant others, whether it be candy, chocolate, flowers, jewelry or perfume. Many couples even get engaged at this romantic day and begin their lives with this date.
For me, my husband and I are not big on this holiday. As with many married couples, the 'holiday' gets lost in the week with work and home schedules. I have, however been thinking of Victoria's Secret all day...week in fact. When I came home from work, there was a nice box of heaven or should I say "Heavenly" sitting on the table.
Victoria's Secret is the one brand that nailed it when it comes to romance, seduction and love. They are the go to store to satisfy most needs! Look below for some great gift ideas and even some wedding night attire from the company.
