Preparing for Next Wedding

Yea, I am excited to say that I have booked my next consultation for a June wedding.  I am so excited and a little nervous for this one.  The bride is the sister of a co-worker, so this will be someone that I do not know.  I am not sure what she will expect of me, will she ask my opinion or will I simply be there for her to do list?  Either way is fine with me, the more the better.  The venue is set to take place in Delaware and by browsing the images online, it looks beautiful!

This week I have been preparing for the initial meeting, which is Sunday.  It is funny how no matter how much information you have in your head, it is better to have it written down as well.  I am ready to take notes and listen to her needs and wants for the big day.

Since I am slated as the Day of Coordinator, the couple will still plan their wedding on their own.  If you are looking for some assistance with your wedding, but do not want to hire a full time planner, check out Bliss Wedding Market  for some ideas on getting organized ahead of time...and then call me!  I will help you stay organized and I will be on top of all your vendors!!

St. Patty's Day Wedding

Call it the luck of the Irish! Wait, I am not Irish....call it luck of being surrounded by the Irish. Wait, there were more than just Irish there...call it a great wedding!

The week leading into St. Patty's day was an exciting one for me as my first wedding took place on March 17, 2012. The bride, groom, families and most of their friends flew into Philadelphia from Florida, Massachusetts and England to prepare for this wedding event. Thursday night I met with the mother of the groom to finalize my duties and to have her hand everything over to me. There I left with all the favors, programs, place cards, kids activities, guest books and most importantly I took the stress off the parents home with me!

Friday night was the rehearsal, it was good for me to be included...I learned who everyone was in the bridal party and they learned who I was. Now I was the go to person! The dinner was kicked off Italian style back at the grandmother's house in South Philly. Decorated to the T with St. Pat's and Wedding decor this was the hot spot...but not for the bridal party! The bridal party, parents and myself headed off to Victor's on 13th & Dickinson St. What a great restaurant, the wait staff perform Opera numbers in between being served. After dinner, the party headed back to South Philly to join the other party. Did I mention we were ushered around in a white trolley (Philadelphia Trolley Works).

Saturday was the Wedding Day! Two shuttles arrived at the Sheraton Hotel in Center City to deliver the guests to the St. Richard's Church in South Philly. The white trolley returned for the bridal party...and only 20 minutes behind schedule (which is normal) the wedding began. The only thing I did not like at the church was there was not a waiting area for the bride before she walked down the aisle. Thank goodness it was beautiful outside, she hung out the doors peeking in so her groom to be could not catch any glimpses of her! Down the aisle she went and married they were...the new Mr. & Mrs. exited the church to well placed bubbles (by the guests). Off to pictures they went, while the guests and myself were taken back to the Sheraton for a Pre-Cocktail hour in the Horizon Room, the roof top of the hotel with an awesome view and a greeting !!

The reception was at the Franklin Institute...cocktail hour in the heart and electricity room then the reception was in Franklin Hall. Wedding guests were able to "play" with the exhibits during cocktail hour while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and refreshments, did I mention there was also a pig roasted by Esposito's in Philadelphia? By 5:30pm all the vendors had arrived and were setting up for a 7pm entrance into Franklin Hall. I would like to give a shout out to Silver Sound DJ's - Mike Mandato who was a great addition to this party. I also can not forget about the String Band....there is nothing like having an Italian wedding and having a real live string band for the Mummers Strut! Although the out of town guests were a little confused as to what was going on...Hey, we were partying South Philly Style!!!

Great Wedding, great party, great event!!
